Mingzhen Chen received the Ph.D. degree in remote sensing of soils from Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China in 1996.,From 1996 to 1998, he was an Associate Professor at Zhejiang University. from 1999 to 2001, he was a Visiting Research Scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park. He was a Research Associate previously at the University of Toronto and currently at Auburn University, Auburn, AL. His research interests include remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) applications, such as retrieving land surface parameters from remotely sensed data, land cover and land use, digital image processing, natural resources inventory and management, biomass and environmental monitoring, and GIS system design and implementation.
