应桂双教授毕业于原浙江医科大学(现浙江大学医学院)完成预防医学本科和医学毒理学硕士,先后在密歇根大学获生物统计学硕士,在宾夕法尼亚大学获生物统计学博士学位。现于宾夕法尼亚大学Perelmen医学院,Scheie眼科研究所任教。从2000年起至今担任宾夕法尼亚大学预防眼科与生物统计中心咨询部主任。
应教授一直致力于眼科生物统计和流行病学研究,包括眼病危险因子分析,预测模型建立和评估, 改善两眼数据统计分析方法, 及设计眼病多中心临床试验和临床研究。应教授作为主持人或者重要参与者一直获得美国国家卫生研究院, 美国眼科研究所支持课题40多项,其中主持15项, 涉及眼病包括年龄相关性黄斑变性, 糖尿病视网膜病变, 早产儿视网膜病变, 干眼,青光眼,白内障, 小孩眼病筛查等。应教授是多个具有国际影响力的多中心临床研究的首席高级统计师和执行委员会成员, 包括 Vision in Preschoolers (VIP) Study,Comparison of AMD Prevention Trial (CAPT),? Comparison of AMD Treatment Trials (CATT), Approaches to Evaluating acute-phase ROP (e-ROP)Study,Postnatal Growth and Retinopathy of Prematurity (G-ROP) Study, and the Dry Eye Evaluation and Management (DREAM) Study。
应教授共发表SCI论文260余篇,大都发表在国际顶级医学期刊,包括 NEJM, Lancet, PNAS, Pediatrics, Neurology, Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Retina, IOVS,Clinical Trials 等。 应教授发表的论文总共被引用12036次,H-index 为53, 总影响因子﹥1200。
应教授是美国临床试验学会会员,美国统计学会会员,国际统计学会会员,国际视觉学和眼科学学会会员, 5个医学期刊的编委, 40多个顶尖国际统计和眼科期刊审稿人, 美国国家卫生研究院眼科研究所和美国国防部的基金审定委员会委员,多家制药和医疗仪器机构的资深统计顾问,美国眼科临床指南委员会成员。
鉴于应教授对眼科领域的突出贡献, 在2016年被美国眼科学会授予突出成就奖。

Dr. Ying is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Associate Scholar in Biostatistics, and Director of the Biostatistical Consulting Service in the Center for Preventive Ophthalmology and Biostatistics. Dr. Ying received his MD from P.R. China and Ph.D. in Biostatistics from University of Pennsylvania in 2004. Dr. Ying is the Principal Investigator of two NIH grants, the Director of the Data Coordinating Center for two NIH-funded studies on retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), the co-investigator and senior biostatistician for several NIH-funded multi-center clinical trials or observational studies. Dr. Ying collaborates with investigators for the study design, statistical analysis and data interpretation and manuscript writing for the multi-center clinical studies. Dr. Ying has extensive experience in proving biostatistical consulting service to the biomedical investigators, mostly in vision and ophthalmology community. Dr. Ying’s statistical methodologic research interest is the development of risk prediction models for eye diseases and statistical analysis for correlated data. Dr. Ying has authored and co-authored 160+ papers in peer-reviewer journals.
